When the summer weather is sultry, muggy and heavy there is no better solution to cooling off than hitting the pool or dipping your toes in a glistening creek while sitting on the creek bed reading a good book. The creek is where I spent my morning, listening to children splashing, collecting souvenirs like frogs and rocks and watching the white, puffy clouds heavy with moisture roll across the sky above me. A dry summer thus far, I am still eagerly anticipating the clouds opening up with some cool relief.
But, as I relaxed at the creek this morning, I contemplated the impending storms that could be headed my way. I started considering all the times that I attempted to turn on my local news to stay up-to-date on storm warnings, only to find that my service was temporarily unavailable because the rainstorm was obstructing my signal. Times like that I feel frustrated and fearful – not a pleasant combination. This leads me to the point of my blog post today. I want to talk about how a television antenna can help Oklahoma City residents stay on top of their local news in order to receive storm information. Any sort of device that is attached to the exterior of your home can be subjected to lost signals during stormy weather, but a simple solution to this problem is an indoor antenna. If you already have a rooftop antenna, a simple, inexpensive indoor antenna can be a great back-up for when the weather gets ominous. The Midwest is notorious for explosive storms that develop at the drop of a hat, so safety is always a number one priority. The availability of storm warnings broadcasted on your local news is essential to staying on top of a weather situation. If you are unsure of what kind of indoor antenna would work for your situation, check out these resources.

Ready for some Minneapolis trivia? You may already know that Minneapolis is home to the largest urban sculpture garden in the country. Perhaps you already knew that it is home more golfers per capita than any other city in the country. But, did you know that that the nation’s first Better Business Bureau was founded in Minneapolis in 1912?
The Better Business Bureau has been around for a long time protecting consumers from stealthy companies that treat customers unfairly and illegally. No matter what service is being performed, it is always important to make sure that you are working with a legitimate, professional business. We all lead busy lives. The constant hustle and bustle of our over-crowded days sometimes leaves us too exhausted to put the effort into researching the contractors coming to our homes. If you are thinking of having an antenna installed on your property, finding the right contractor to set-up your antenna is crucial to make sure that you will have years of enjoyment and no unexpected expenses from an improperly installed antenna. We can help you find the perfect contractor to erect your antenna in a timely manner while accurately executing the job. Here is a little trivia about our services. Leave the work to us! Troy, Moscow Mills and Old Monroe Know Rooftop Television Antennas are a Trusty, Country Standard6/20/2012 Do you live a rural area? If you live in the cities of Troy, Moscow Mills or Old Monroe the answer is inarguably, yes! While these areas saw rapid growth over the past several years, the truth is that there are still more hay bales, cows and tractors than urban development.
Thankfully, these cities are only 45 minutes away from St. Louis where entertainment can be found at a Cards’ game or a romp through the St. Louis Zoo. But let’s get real. Sometimes we don’t want to travel long distances for simple entertainment. And, no, cow tipping is not entertainment. Another drawback to living amidst nature and farmland is that the choices one has for television service can be limited. Traditional cable companies rarely lay cable in rural areas. Sure, satellite companies will make the trek to your residence and get you connected for a large monthly fee, but another option is completely free. Rooftop antennas are still a viable option for television viewing. If you have one on your property or see them on the farmhouses off in the distance, they may seem old-school and rusty, but they never go out of style because they continue to provide reliable service. If you have been receiving poor service from an antenna on your property and have been contemplating signing over your life to a satellite company, consider these options. The antenna on your roof may be old and the signal poor, but a simple tweaking could fix those signal problems. Many times just changing the direction your antenna points could work miracles. If a professional cannot tweak your existing antenna, they can provide you with a new HDTV antenna at a reasonable price that will give you a gorgeous picture. Both of these options allow you to continue to enjoy your free local programming while relishing in the calm that is the essence of life in the country. Are you a Boise renter who wants to install a TV Antenna? Read more about your rights here.6/19/2012 Today I want to address another common question received from people wanting to install a TV antenna on their rental property. Check out this question received from a Boise resident.
“My husband and I just moved into a rental home. We want to install a television antenna, but are unsure if we need our landlord’s permission. What should we do?” Technically, you do not need your landlord’s permission. Federal law allows renters to install an antenna on their rented property, inside or outside. However, landlords can place certain restrictions in order to prevent damage to the home, preserve historic elements of the home or for general safety. But you shouldn’t worry too much about the restrictions. Renters in Boise can enjoy all the benefits of an HDTV antenna as homeowners can. There are several methods available when it comes to installing an antenna. For instance, if your landlord gets picky and tries to prevent an install by enforcing a strict no-drilling- on-the-structure policy, you could still erect a traditional rooftop antenna outside on a patio or deck. Typically, a landlord’s damage policy in relation to drilling and hammering is restricted to possible damage caused to the exterior structure walls and the roof. Most landlords are willing to allow tenants to install rooftop units. Why? It is simple. Just as much as a renter wants to find a good landlord. A landlord wants to find a good renter. The less money you are spending on a satellite package, the more money you have each month towards your rent. Here is another point to consider. If you and your landlord have a good relationship, consider asking the landlord to install the antenna. Yes, the antenna would then belong to the landlord, but if you do not renew your lease then the landlord will have another perk to offer the new tenant – free television. In this situation everyone in Boise wins! The call of the wide-open road is persistent to many travelers. With the hassle of airport security, along with the ever increasing restrictions, many people are deciding to go a little more old-school when traveling. Vacationers are finding that a recreational vehicle, affectionately referred to as the RV, is the way to travel these days.
Who can deny that an RV provides the same comforts as home? This is especially true if you are lucky enough to own one of those swanky models where the roof extends to a second story and you have a hot tub. Okay, maybe that last one doesn’t exist. However, most people don’t have the second story either. My point? Even a traditional RV provides the minimal comforts of home, lodging, food and entertainment. New RVs are equipped with state-of-the-art television systems. With such an upgraded system, you must have an upgraded antenna to make sure you don’t miss a second of your favorite shows while traveling cross-country. Otherwise, you may be stuck playing I Spy and Go Fish the entire trip. Need I say more? Why should Topeka consumer install an antenna? Don’t most campgrounds provide cable that I can plug into? Maybe, but you can’t plug into a cable while you are traveling down that long, desolate Kansas highway. Plus, not all RV owners choose to park in a traditional campground. Sometimes a beautiful, desert view in New Mexico may urge you to stop and explore for a couple days. A television antenna on the top of your RV will provide you with a free signal wherever you choose to explore. Even though it may seem easy to install a rooftop antenna on an RV, it can still be perilous. You are dealing with electricity. Make sure you call in the professionals in Topeka to help you travel with the full entertainment package! Have you been experiencing problems with television reception? Do you receive the majority of your programming through a rooftop antenna and feel that the only way to solve your reception problem is to pitch the antenna off the roof and give in to the lure of cable or satellite?
I suppose that seems like the easiest solution, but is it the smartest? If you already utilize a TV antenna to receive free local programming why start paying now? I get it. It seems easier to just start from scratch. But let’s take a quick look at what could be causing your reception problems. Owners of rooftop antennas may be making decisions based on misconceptions. While a TV antenna does provide superior quality that rivals the signals broadcasted by your cable or satellite company, they are not entirely infallible. Sometimes certain adjustments are needed to ensure that your antenna is working at the highest standard you expect. Most reception problems that occur with a rooftop antenna can be fixed by one or more of the following actions: Moving the location of the antenna so that it is not affected by tree branches or a neighbor’s roof. Do you live more than 70 miles away from a broadcast tower? If you do, you may need to have your antenna elevated higher than your home’s roof in order to get the best signal. Also, you should double-check that your antenna receives both VHF and UTF signals. Are you scratching your head out of frustration? Does everything I just mention sound as foreign and uninteresting as a French film without subtitles? Luckily, there are professional TV antenna installers in Tucson who can help you if your antenna has been a little fuzzy. These installers will get your antenna back to perfect working condition so that you can continue to receive your television shows without the hassle and expense of a cable bill. Recently, I received a question from a concerned Tuscumbia resident about his rooftop antenna install and a persnickety Homeowner Association Board. Here is the question:
“For the past year, I have been using a rooftop antenna to receive local programming. I enjoy the quality of the signal I receive and, as a retired teacher, do not want to waste my pension on a cable bill. Lately, I have been receiving letters from my Homeowner Association Board telling me that I cannot have a rooftop antenna. What can I do to keep receiving digital TV without paying for cable?” – Concerned in Tuscumbia. This resident has a right to be upset and alarmed. The Federal Communications Commission, known on the streets as the FCC, has rules in place to protect homeowner’s rights to erect a rooftop antenna on their private structure, superseding any restrictions that a Homeowner Association Board may have placed in their bylaws. While there are some exceptions, such as if a central antenna is available for all residents to use then individual antennas may be banned, the exceptions are small and usually do not apply to the majority of residents wanting to install their own antenna. A complete list of circumstances and examples of what is protected by the FCC’s ruling can be found on their website, but in a nutshell, a Homeowner Association Board cannot place restrictions on ones’ ability to erect a rooftop antenna. However, sometimes the hassle of the fight far outweighs the sweetness of victory. If you want to continue to receive free programming and make the Board happy, you could look into installing an attic antenna. Similar to a rooftop antenna, it will continue to provide you with free television, but will be hidden from view. But to answer your question, the law is on your side and you have a right to install whichever antenna works best for you! You know, sometimes, I find myself overwhelmed by the latest gadgets and gizmos that are supposed to make my life easier, but somehow only seem to make it more complicated. Like my satellite television.
Does anyone else feel that way? Are you constantly questioning your bill, wondering why you pay X amount of dollars each month, but then find out that you can’t even continue to watch your favorite show when a rainstorm visits your area because the satellite signal is unable to be located? Or, my favorite one, the high-speed connection that takes at least 30 seconds to react each time I try to go to Guide or List. Apparently, my idea of high-speed is different than my satellite company’s definition. Recently, I learned about a technology that I thought was a backwards way of living. But it turns out that it is a forward-thinking technology that aims to make television uncomplicated. The technology that I am talking about is HDTV television antennas. Yes, those odd looking rooftop gadgets can provide a great picture for Denver residents looking to save a little extra money. HDTV antennas can give you fast, crystal clear television for free! Sure, you have to pay to have an antenna set-up on your roof, but that is a one-time minimal cost. After a professional installer erects your antenna, you will be on your way to hassle-free, local programming that costs you absolutely nothing each month. You can even keep your satellite if you can’t live without your True Blood or Say Yes to the Dress. You don’t have to choose. Many residents opt to go both ways, but use their television antenna to receive local channels, eliminating that cost from their satellite bill. The whole process is easy and uncomplicated. Denver has a reputation for being a hip, trendy city for young professionals and young families looking to simplify and get in touch with the beauty and bounty that nature has to offer. Why would you want to spend time inside trying to figure out your television when you can be outside enjoying the brilliant scenery of Denver? I’m just saying . . . What can I say about Brunswick, Georgia? The possibilities are endless. I could tell you that in Brunswick you can find massive pine cones that from a distance resemble a small squirrel. I can attest to the multitude of seafood restaurants that will have your mouth watering before you ever open a menu. I can tell you that Brunswick is a gateway to beautiful coastal islands - islands that will taunt you with their adventures, their history and their quaintness.
With all the activities that Brunswick has to offer, one would wonder why anyone would want to stop for a moment to consider a television antenna. With the beaches, water sports and world-class golf courses, why would anyone look to anything else for entertainment? Even though Brunswick and the Golden Isles offer adventure, sometimes thrill seekers need a little respite. Weary from a day splashing in the ocean or riding a bike along the scenic trails sometimes all one wants to do is grab a cozy blanket, cuddle up on the couch and watch a television show. With all the outside activities that this town has to offer, your television time is probably not a top priority and you don’t necessarily need to pay for unnecessary channels. So, installing a HDTV antenna in Brunswick, where you get all your local programming unrestricted and absolutely free, is the best way for Brunswick residents to have the best of both worlds. Even for folks who think television is unnecessary when living in coastal paradise, consider your guests that probably flock to your door looking to for cheap (aka, free) accommodations. They most certainly would appreciate a television in their guest room where they can be assured of a bright, sunny forecast the next day. Or, so that the kiddos won’t bother grandma who gets cranky from family who have overstayed their welcome! Installing an antenna is easy and affordable for Brunswick residents. Give us a call and we will help you find the right antenna to keep you and your guests happy! I love summer! Hands-down it is my favorite time of the year with the exception of Christmas. I mean, really? Who doesn’t get excited about presents?
Anyway, I am already getting off point – summer. Summer is my favorite season because life slows down. School ends and so do nightly obligations such as homework and extracurricular activities. Instead of rushing from activity to activity we accept the invitation from the ocean to go play in the waves. Summertime relaxing also includes more time to hang out around the house and watch a little television. Television can be complicated. The amount of channels can sometimes seem overwhelming and the cable bill can be just as unnerving. Like I said earlier, to me summertime is about slowing the pace. This could be the perfect time for you to reevaluate your cable bill and consider cutting costs by purging your cable programming of unnecessary local programming. You want me to get rid of my local programming? You want me to do without my syndicated summer re-runs like Dr. Oz and Jeopardy? What about the news? How will I know who won the game? Relax. I am not telling you to wipe-out your local programming. I am simply trying to explain that you can get these same channels for free. For free? Yep, absolutely free! All you need is a rooftop antenna, a professional installer to complete the set-up and the desire to save money. Simple, carefree solutions to your current situation that can have you paying up to an extra $20 dollars a month for channels that are free. Twenty dollars doesn’t seem like much, but over a year that is $240 dollars. That is not pocket change. That is money that could be used towards a new grill. A boogie board to body surf the waves. I’m just saying. Free is always better, right? |
